Flash Toys Contest!

Are you a Flash Toy builder? We are looking for entries for an on-line
exhibition!

Theme: Construct in your mind the city of the future. What do you imagine?
Do you see utopia as a vision of green grass, parks, gardens and celestial
wonder? Or do you envision a Stanley Kubrickesque city of lonely corridors
or post-apocalyptic visions of Gothic City?

We are seeking submissions of short flash-based works that explore future
and virtual sites for an on-line exhibition titled “Virtual Cities.”
“Virtual Cities” is a web-based exhibit collaboration between
McMaster University and the Art Gallery of Hamilton, and is being
produced in conjunction with the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s
international exhibition titled “Future Cities.” Officially opening in
April 15, 2004, “Future Cities” explores the multi-layered character of the
contemporary city and how urban space can be used. The project examines
urbanization, renewal and the idea of possible urban futures.
“InteractiCity” represents one of the interactive components of the “Virtual
Cities” web site, and will be where winning Flash animations will be
showcased.

Every two weeks a new winner and runner-up will be featured on the site.
Winning entries will be decided by a panel of judges, and all winning
entries will be highlighted in a Virtual Cities exhibition catalogue,
published by the Art Gallery of Hamilton. All winners will also receive
seasons passes to the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s Film Programme or
Sevenseason Programme.

Submission guidelines:

Entries will consist of a single .swf file with dimensions up to a maximum
of w800 x h600, and a filesize limit of 750k. A brief explanation of the
work should also be included, along with personal and contact information.
All entries must be received by April 30, 2004.

Entries may be sent to interacticity@mcmaster.ca
