Hi everyone! I’m doing research on Flash Video (specifically progressive download-- NOT embedded video!) and have a few questions bugging me.
First of all, I was just going through this tutorial from Macromedia about playing back external FLVs. What I don’t understand is why you have to have an embedded video object IN the flash file if the point is to display it externally. In other words, the only reference to the video file the .fla should have is in the code. Am I right? Am I missing something? Is this outdated?
In a side/related note, I have attempted several times to install Macromedia’s Flash Video components in MX2004 but I still don’t see them in my components panel (even after refreshing). What gives?
The ultimate goal is to program my own (EXTERNAL!!!) video interface, so if you all have any general pointers towards this goal, it would be much appreciated!
