Not sure this is the best place to post but here goes:

what’s the best/easiest program for creating fonts? I have pixel fonts in mind, but anything will do - I neeeeed to create some fonts! what do people recommend (assuming there are any font makers among us :D).

If you are no stranger to vector art applications such as Illustrator and especially Freehand, Macromedia Fontographer is a good way to go. I have tried this myself and give it two enthusiastic thumbs up. C:-)

I used Font Creator Program 3 by High-Logic (www.highlogic.com) for the one font I made.

fontographer has good help files and the macromedia site has some I believe. I have used a few font proggy’s and I would say fontographer is by far better IMO

Thanks! Actually I’m starting to make fonts for flash but I can’t seem to perfect it. I always get the blurry or the filled center type.

It would be nice if I learn of a tutorial understading the purposes of say em kerning and how it is calculated especially in the scope of making pixel fonts for flash! :-\

I’ve been told to try FontLab.

I decided to ask on the Adobe Forums why Adobe hasn’t created a Font Program. Just makes sense they would with their current suite of products.

Yeah, FontLab (version 4, I think) I hear is very good.:pope:
I used Fontographer by Macromedia, but after using the MX suite, it feels so archaic.

Well, in the thread I liked to above, one of the big whigs at Adobe Fonts stated Adobe has zero plans for ever creating a font tool. Apparently he feels there’s no market for it.

Something I think is ridiculous, considering they spend money on crap like LiveMotion, Encore, and Dimensions - software hardly anyone buys or needs.

I mean, Encore? What? Why not just work that functionality into Premiere or After Effects?

yeah livemotion is crap…and I never heard of encore…gotta see what that does. They are kinda right. there are many tools outthere and fontographer pretty much has the lion share and not many people create their own fonts. I try to avoid doing it unless the client asks me

I bought fontlab v3! Is this ok? I’m quite overwhelmed by the interface. Does anybody know how to make pixel fonts for flash using this software! :-\
