So, as many of you may have seen from the Random thread, the forums did get hacked and about 4000 threads were lost. I don’t know anything about how it happened, but all I do know is that somebody logged in as soulty (and later xxviii) and performed a thread prune. That explained the extremely slow performance of the site an hour ago, and that is what partly helped to stop the problem before it got too big. This is pretty much the exact same way that lunatic’s account got hijacked the last time when the site got hacked. You all run in admin mode on the forums, so a hacker has full access to parts of the forum that would otherwise not be possible.
The threads that were deleted were fairly random, so with the excpetion of a few recent threads, most were from the past few years. That was quite fortunate 
[SIZE=4]My only suggestion[/SIZE] is to not click on links from unfamiliar users. Whenever I encounter a link, I make sure to open it in a different browser that is not logged in to kForums. I have been able to catch a few links that “accidentally” redirected me to my admincp page, so I’m sure there are clever ways out there for users to steal password and username info.
Overall, the damage was not too bad, and Sen’s AS 3.0 thread is still up - phew! :beam:
