Friends been haked, wants revenge!

Hye ppl, this is a desperate post, my best freinds just had his email acount haked and some1s sent emails to all his contatcs spreading rumors and totaly f**ke dupo his site saying they know where he lives, I so wana know how the hell i can find out who it is thats doing this cos we have no idea, his logged into msn messanger usin my friends email but aint talking, can i find out who it is?
