'get flash' link

hey all,
working on my first flash site and just wondering about the importance of a “get flash” link on the index page.

well obviously if you don’t have flash player you can’t veiw the site, but i’m trying to keep the site very minimal without clutter or **** that doesn’t have to be there and I’ve noticed that the majority of flash sites out there don’t have the link to macromedia page. Is this because I have flash so I don’t get the link or it really isn’t necessary.

detection script … if you already have what it takes to view the page … why bother with the ‘get flash’ thing?

I’d say it’s something you need to have. Even if it’s not the big button that Macromedia use, and just a small text link to the download. People will get irritated if they can’t view your site and have got no quick link to the download they need.

just try a simple text link, with an invisible button over the top of it.

in the script 4 the button add ; get url http://macromedia.com/flashplayer
