Hi all,
How can I make a rectangle mask which is solid color on the left and goes gradually transparent to the right??
Hi all,
How can I make a rectangle mask which is solid color on the left and goes gradually transparent to the right??
Here is a tutorial on masking text and having the top and bottom to gradually become transparent, if this doesn’t work I can make an .fla for you and explain it:
http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Special_Effects/text_scr-Ryan_Nie-783/index.php
Masks don’t support transparency, masks go by shape and shape only, so color and transparency don’t matter.
You can however go to Window/Color Mixer
Then in the drop down box select “Linear” and you are able to edit your own linear gradient in there. After you create the gradient you want click on the upper right corner of the panel (in the grey are it looks like an icon of a bulleted list with an arrow pointing down) and choose “Add Swatch”
Now have this as your fill for your shape, and draw your shape (looks best without outlines on the shape, so you can either turn those off first, or delete them after shape creation).
Oh yeah, and to edit the direction of the gradient use the Fill Transform tool (2nd column, 6th tool down, looks like a verticle rectangle with a rotation symbol and diagonal arrows), after you choose that tool, click on your gradient fill. You will then be presented with little icons for rotation and scaling of the fill to make the gradient look different.
Thanks for correcting me lost, forgot to note that the flashkit tutorial I posted was a work around of a transparent mask by using a gradient plane and not an actual way to make the mask with transparent areas, sorry to be misleading, sometime I get carried away when I type and rush things.
Yeah, the method in the tutorial at flashkit also requires the use of Photoshop created .png or .gif image.
So I posted the Flash method so you don’t have to raise the file size for a .png or .gif image with the fade and you can instead use the linear gradient editor inside flash and create it that way. It allows for easier editing if ever needed.
