GRUB / OS loader help

Alright, it’s been awhile since I’ve visited the kirupa forum, but I really can’t figure this out.

Previously on an older computer, I’ve had several different distributions of linux installed, all of these used somthing called “grub” to load them, or somthing like that.

I’m trying to install freedos on my comp now, I’ve formatted my hard-drive / deleted all of my partitions, and created a new FAT16 partition for DOS. The partition is fully working, and I can copy files from the boot CD over to the hard-drive perfectly.

Here’s where everything goes wrong…

I turn on my computer… and it says "Grub loading boot stage
ERROR: 24 " or somthing similar.

I’ve ‘installed’ freedos onto my hard-drive already, using the easy to follow prompt on the screen for copying everything over. But for some reason… Grub is somehow on my computer, and grub is still trying to boot linux. I suppose that grub isn’t on my hard-drive, but stored in the BIOS flash memory or somthing (unsure of this). But how do I ‘delete’ grub from my computer, and replace it with a bootloader for DOS?
