Help setting up video to record xbox please

Can some one help me! I have a toshiba tv, two scart sockets and one 3 hole socket thing. I have connected the vhs and xbox are in both the scarts but when i go to record av-2 (channel of xbox) it doesn’t bloody record it. help please
