Hehe, hi all, this problems has me completely stumped, since I know for example how to divide a class B IP into subnets, set them all up, give them IPs, program the routers but I can’t get my freaking home network that consists of just 2 computers and a switch. And a DSL modem.
Here’s how it’s hooked up, I have a switch and two computers hooked up to it. I also have a DSL modem hooked up to the switch. I’ve set the internal IPs of the computers to 192.168.0.1 and 2. Now they can both acces the DSL internet without any problems whatsoever. I can also ping one comp from another using their internal IPs. They both have Windows XP with SP1 installed. When I go to ‘My Network Places’ I don’t see the other comp but when I look at the work groups I see them by their name (one is canuplzstfu and the other is HAL9000). But when I try to access them from the other computer an error message pops up (attached image), although I have shared folders in each computer. HAL9000 also has a printer attached to it and set as shared, but canuplzstfu won’t recognize it.
Anyone know of a remedy? Thanks in advance.
