Your right… But he should learn more commands, not only the bash specific commands or he’ll be very limited
lol, thats me told, I guess iwconfig and clear are more useful that find, ls, cat or tail :bounce:
(note: thread about bash ala bash command list)
More useful??? nope… equal! Also depends on the use of your linux system. Tell me… How can you install servers and format multiple partitions without mkfs? How can u monitorize/securize the WLAN of a webhosting (or whatever) company with more than 300 servers without iwconfig? Can u use kismet without it?..
I don’t know, don’t really care either, ain’t my job to mate, my networking skill (purposely) stops at pressing the reset button on my router, but I appreciate what your saying and your correct - however this thread was about bash. 99% of the time I use the shell for programing/scripting/maintenance tasks or deployment on a dedicated or vps, I don’t need to know, I doubt the dude who originally posted does either.
Chillax everyone. I got what I needed, I doubt I’ll ever go far beyond bash (been using it a bit more since I asked, btw, so thanks for the tip everyone!). If you guys want to debate the best way to do things, knock yourselves out, but be nice (I’ll settle for mature though).
