How to assigne id to MC

Hello All,

I’m trying to identify how this line works but have no clue, I tried to read different help files but is not helping. the line is as follows

_mc.i = (ipic >= NPICS ? ipic-NPICS : ipic);

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you
