draw out your crop, then change the properties in the properties window
Hey DDD, How ya doing??
That is really not what I am trying to achieve. You know when you open a image in PS, and it is 500X400. Then you can you can go to the top of the page and and you can make the image 300X100 and it will scale it for you? That is what I am trying to do. I hope this make sense I know you have done this a thousand times;)
Is there a transform dialog box??
you can press cntrl+T, or there is the transform button next to crop tool. You can also get it from the Modify menu. Also you can change its properties from the property panel. And last but not least you can change the size from the modify>>canvas window. You can also select the registration for the transform to take place.
and if you make it a symbol its non-destructive
He Sen,
can you tell me that "non-destructive means?
Thnaks man!!
it means it wont degrade quality. In PS, if you scale an image down and then later scale it back up, you’re image will be pixelated because you’re scaling up the scaled down version. In FW, you can just make an image a symbol and scale it all you want whenever you want and it will never lessen in quality in respect to the original
Hey Sen…
That is really cool. I read a couple threads, and I know you like it “FW”… So I have been playing around with today, and I really like it. I did my footer in like ten min:). I still do not get the cropping :h: But that is just me being a dumb***. DDD did a great job of tryin to help me out. But I am just not getting it? I think that is more of a Flash environment, with the transform palate. I just have to get used to it:) thanks you guys, your great!!!
What kind of cropping are you talking about? Image cropping? document cropping?
For either there are a couple of ways to do it.
For document cropping, the easiest is using the crop tool. Select it from the tools bar and draw out your area on the screen. If you want more precise calculations when doing this, you can modify your box after you have drawn it using the properties panel. It provides a width, height and x,y location for your crop box (based on its upper left hand corner). When you got it right, hit enter and your whole document is cropped. Depending on your preferences, this may also crop images within your document, but doesn’t have to (Edit > Preferences > Editing [Tab] > Delete objects when cropping [x]).
Another way to crop the document is by going to Modify > Canvas > Canvas size. This provides a way to resize or crop your document, or canvas, via numeric values. Content within the document doesnt change, just the visual area of the document itself. Using Modify > Canvas > Image size will alter both the document size AND the size of the content, scaling down your entire file.
You can also crop your document based on a selection. Once you have a selection, and this can be an object (or many objects) or a marquee selection like that which you get from using the magic wand, right-click on it and select Crop Document from the context menu. This is often an easy way to get rid of unwanted white space or gaping borders.
Using a marquee selection you can also crop images (bitmaps) within your document without affecting document size. Simply right click on a marquee selection and select Crop selected bitmap. This will give you a crop selection that is effective for that bitmap only (and not the document). Note this only works on rectangular selections. More traditional editing would be used to get irregular shapes (such as copy and paste or select inverted and delete).
Does that help at all?
I get the feeling our explanations are not hitting home. Or he wants to do something completely different than what has been asked.
yeah :sure:
i have a feeling he is after something similar to “Image Size” (which is in photoshop) something like that in Fireworks.
The one which scales your document size and its content.
or i could be wrong.
well I covered that so he should be good
I covered it too. I hit all the crop size options minus export crop area tool.
