i needed to know how to make closeable pop up window thingies. an example is http://www.crashshop.com/site.html . they have those little dragable windows, and you can close em. i needed to know how to do that, using a graphic i made for the actual window.

i cant use this tutorial, but i will find another one. that one is for a earlier version of flash. i have MX. the AS codes are different, therefore i dont really know the substitutes. thanks anyways
it seems like the “pop-up” window ur referring to are just loaded movies in a movie clip. the close button has this “unloadMovie” command…the minimize button maybe has a command that affects the size of the MC that the movie has been loaded into.i think.

As far as the tutorial I gave you the link, Mx code is not that diff from Flash 5. Try doing the tutorial, or learning how it’s done and changing it to your needs. In other words, learn, don’t expect to copy and paste.

Nimrod asked a question, I gave him a place to start. Instead of asking how to convert the tut to MX, he would rather have someone post the code.
In another thread, he bashed Macs without any regard for the Thread Starter’s feelings or needs. My point was to let Nimrod know, that kind of animosity will carry over in the times he wants answers himself.

If you were frustrated, looking for answers, would you appreciate this kind of response? Plus, the language is not the type Kirupa.com would like to see… Unnecessary, and Childish, is the only way I can describe Nimrod’s comments.

So what, its just an opinion. Everyone has them and is rightfully entitled to them. Hes not trying to force his beliefs on you, so just dont worry about it. If I was looking for answers and got that response then I would think, “Hey, theres someone who obviously doesnt like macs. There must be a reason for this. They seem to think its because they suck donkey balls… I doubt thats the case but Ill look into it further.” Its not like nimrod was saying that person sucked donkey balls. If that was the case, then yes, that would be a little uncalled for, but its not.
Did nimrod ask for a conversion? no, but if you’ll recall, there was mention of finding another one, which means he did take your comment seriously and is set on finding a tut to better suit his needs, as you suggested. Nimrod even said thanks, and yet you came back calling him a smart *** and cracking on him again for his tiny little post in the mac thread. That, I think, is ‘unnecessary’.
Then you ask why Im getting involved? Why are you involved in the first place? At no time were there any remarks directly aimed at you or any of your specific posts. You have just as much reason for being involved as I do so I wouldnt complain if I were you.

I realize you are fairly new to this forum, but generally, we do not like the kind of comments without any kind of help involved (childish and inflamatory). In this thread, I was trying to “teach,” and not just give up the code (the other tut would have worked, even if it was Flash 4, but he didn’t even try).
Peace, I’m out of this, and any other questions Nimrod has, until he learns to grow up, and not just post flame bait. I’ll let other people “help” Nimrod. This world doesn’t need any more smart alec comments than it already has.

i did try that tut. i wasted a good 15 minutes lookin for a code that does not even exist in MX.
also, about ur unnecessary cracks on me, i have a lot of time on my hands anyways. i think i posted the macs suck donkey balls thing before i even read what you had posted. im sorry if you cant understand my sarcastic nature in which i like to voice my opinions, but i guess thats the way itll have to be.
you may not think so, but i do want to learn, and i dont just want copy pastes. i figured out how to do the drag drop thing, ON MY OWN i might add. and now i know how to do it. as i said before, thank you for pointing me in the right direction as to where to start.

i dont really think this is necesary as well, because i take offense to it. i may be new to flash but im not a dumbass. i do appreciate it, because now i get to rip the thing apart and see what code is involved.
