Set the symbols’ alpha property to less than 100%. 100% is opaque, and 0% is invisible. Choose a value in between to find a suitable transparancy.

first make sure youve made your picture a symbol, if not, do so :wink:

If you want to make a part of an image fully transparent, you need to save it as a .gfi-file and then use an image editor to make parts transparent and then import it into flash

If you have Photoshop7 u can take the image and delete the areas which u want to make transparent and save it as png-24 in the save for web options.

If you have Photoshop7 u can take the image and delete the areas which u want to make transparent and save it as gif.
You are not able to use the jpg or bmp format
It has worked for me.
