The title pretty much says it all. The problem I’m having is that the Category IDs I have on my localhost differ from the ID numbers on my server install of Wordpress. The design I’ve been working on pulls the various categories by ID, and as you can imagine, this is pulling categories into the wrong places on the server install.
Question is, is there an easy way to manually change the category IDs on the server so that they match the IDs on my localhost? I searched online and found a link describing going into the database and changing the IDs that way, but for some reason it didn’t work for me. I’ve thought about just pulling in the categories by name, but then that’ll lead me to more problems if the category names ever change. Is there a better way to fix this? Or how have you guys managed to “coordinate” your localhost work with your server work?
