Alrighty guys, at work i’ve made a big multimedia CDrom in Flash Pro MX 2004. This is the first CDrom project i’ve ever done, and i’ve learned a lot from it. But now that it’s at the end of it i may have made some mistakes that have killed it and i need some advice on what to do to fix it.
Unfortunately i made the project using one main file (as a projector) loading up individual .swf’s for the pages. Some of these pages are pretty big, with large map images and videos. Once i put it all on a CDrom, i found that there were terrible pauses in between pages, even with preloaders in the individual pages. The preloaders quickly play after the long pauses of the page loading.
After searching around here i see this is a no-no. Grimdeath advises never to use external .swf’s on a CDrom and he seems to know what he’s talking about. So at this point what should i do? Should i go through all the trouble of bringing in those pages and putting it together using scenes (which i’ve never done before) or is there a way to aleviate the pausing problem? It’s worked fine on all the computers i’ve tried the CDrom on, except for the pauses.
I know that was long but i figured it needed some explaining. I’m just not sure what to do, my boss is pressuring me to get this done immediately. Thanks for any help.
