I need some SERIOUS help pleaseeeeee

OK, long story short, i’ve got a monster site to make and i’ve been asked to produce a flash site.
With my experiences using flash to make an entire site, i decided it would be a lot easier to do it in HTML using flash elements.
I find whatever i do in flash seems to lag and generally seems quite slow and mucky instead of clean cut and nice.

Anyway. 3 main elements that i need help on are the following:

Glass/gloss looking banners.
If you take a look at www.sosodef.com , the site generally looks glassy and light. I need to know how to do that but in the size of a banner/section header.

Light/lite stuff.
www.aftermath-entertainment.com for example has the flames & such which loads fairly quickly and the animation doesnt slow down, or when you scroll the page, it doesnt jitter about the page.
Stuff i’ve done before seems to slow down when you click a button or scroll, and with scrolling you get an unwanted chunk of the animation or swf left on the page like skidmarks… very unpleasnt.

Panning images
I’m sure there is a tutorial around here somewhere, but i couldnt find it. I need to know how to make an image pan rather than just tween from left to right or in whichever direction.

A few other things i’d like to be able to do, which arent exactly important, are to make objects ‘flash’. Someone posted this site somewhere on the board a while ago http://www.wa007.com/2003/ and mousing over the blocks next to the calendar does the whole flash out line etc. & if you click on the girl with the guns, when she loads, there’s a flash & the ‘light’ goes up to reveal the image.

I’m not a totall n00b when it comes to flash, but with all the problems i faced a few years ago, i stuck to html based designs.

All or any help would be grately appreciated. If you can point me to places on this site or others that can show me what to do, that would be the best. I have 24 hours to come up with a working design and a further week to have the whole project finished… no pressure whatsoever

thanks
