Ian Thorpe Rules!

^ Pretty much what the subject says! Congrats to him and the Australians :kommie: I am sure he’ll win a few more Gold along the way.

You know, kirupa, I actually feel sorry for phelps. All that hype has got to be making him feel small and stuff, its got to be screwing with his head more than the other olymic swimmers

Yeah - that’s true. I am wondering if other countries hype their athletes also?

I’m almost positive they do. But yeah, he does rock. I concur wholeheartedly.

//Concur- Almost as funny a word as Parsnips.

Canada doesn’t hype the athletes. Hell, we hardly fund our athletes :sigh:

well, if we come out of this with more than 7 golds, I will be more than satisfied

YAWN!!! How unexpected.

Piersol baby Piersol.

Phelps will perform over all, but that Great Britain guy is something, he went to the same college as I did over here in the states funny enough.

For all the land we have, we Americans know how to swim.

USA!

ha! phelps… what a joke…

go thorpedo!!

although we did pretty bad in the 4x100m relay :expressionless:

but go australia. we are second in the medal tally now yay!

I always thought Thorpedo was kind of a silly name.

Our definitions of “joke” must be very different.

Theres a reason Phelps is hyped you know, this guy is no joke. He’s a world record holder or close to those types of times in many different strokes. All around, he’s the best swimmer in the world. Thorpe is amazing in 2 or 3 strokes, but weak in the others. Thorpe is AMAZING, but calling Phelps a joke is just wrong.

To be noted: I’m not an American either.

Phelps beat the world record at age 15 - the youngest male world record breaker…he’s not a joke lol

yeah phelps is definitley not a joke, well I havent really seen anything exciting on the olympics yet. Does anyone know when the running is?

beech volleyball. drools

Yeah - that’s true. I am wondering if other countries hype their athletes also?

Thorpe was definatly feeling the hype and pressure. He almost didn’t make it into that even after false starting at the olympic qualifyers. After a few talks and alot of contemplating the guy who actually made it in decided to step down, giving Thorpe his chance to race. Also with the added pressure of becoming Australias most successful olympian ever if he won, I’d say there was alot of hype and pressure on Thorpe.

Phelps is gonna be the next big champion though. Beijing will be his :stuck_out_tongue:

I always thought Thorpedo was kind of a silly name.

what does names have to do with anything? Doesnt everyone have a nickname? :sigh:
