IE locks when I click on most image links

Sorry, don’t mean to post a tech question in the random forum, but it didn’t really seem to fit anywhere else.

Whenever I click on image links IE locks up. It doesn’t happen all the time (I was able to click on the “new thread” image to get here), but on many major sites it does it. Anyone know whats going on?

Are you using IE6?

move to firefox :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

amen to that bombing :thumb:

I know what’s happening. You’re using IE. :stuck_out_tongue:

naturally the only reply you will get from this forum will probally be… “Get FireFox”

Maybe it’s your internet connection…
But It may also be your PC not enought Ram or CPU speed.

But probally It’s IE.

*edit: oeps forgot link: :stuck_out_tongue: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Yea, I don’t think there are too many people who have strong opinions that IE is better. Firefox users seem to be more radical.

yeah… I honestly can’t remember a time when I liked ie except when I had never heard of firefox… the instant I downloaded it I fell in love

I’m never turning back of course…

Some times I’m forced to by Webdeisgners That Don’t use legal HTML… Grrr Darn Them…

yeah… that’s when the “view in ie” plugin for firefox comes into play :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes. If you make your page in XHTML, it always works in Firefox, as far as I know.

well… if you know how to code well… and code properly…

…seems like the fanboys were let out of their cages early today (posts bahleeted!!) :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyhoo, back to your topic, have you tried emptying your temp. internet files? Also, if you have any extra toolbars or plug-ins installed for IE, try disabling them and seeing if the problem is resolved.

meanie head :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

he needs to learn to use the correct software :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not a fanboy. (Firefox RULEZ!)

Your computer might also have a virus/spyware. I had a computer with IE that crashed a bunch and that was because of viruses, etc.

try kirupa’s solution that is usually the #1 fix for the type of problem you are having.

dunno why noone’s said this yet:
GET FIREFOX!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Shazbot, I step away from the forums for 24 hours and I’ve got all these responses. Thanks guys, viruses/spyware/toolbars are kind of what I was thinking too. I ran SpyHunter the other day, and I’m pretty sure thats when the problem began (its hard to tell though). I’ll figure it out from here, I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track.

Thanks again everyone. Also, I didn’t see but… let me guess… the fanboys were bashing IE / me for using it. I know… I know…

if you want to go the spyware route -

If you have XP you can try installing service pack 2.

After it’s installed, fire up IE and go to tools–>manage addons. You can take out things that have hijacked your browser.

As for spyware, the link prstudio posted is great. Personally, I always use adaware, spybot search and destroy, and sometimes hijack this (be careful with this one) to remove spyware. I usually run the tools in safemode with my system restore disabled. While I’m at it I usually go ahead and run a few virus scans (in safe mode with system restore off).

These are two great free, online scanning sites. Good Luck

If all else fails, you can either format and reinstall (pretty drastic option) or sidestep the problem by using a different browser.
