Okay so I decided recently that I want, nay NEED DSL, and can afford it. My mom said that she and my dad would pay 15 and I could pay 15, which rocks. But we keep having problems!
Step One: Check it out>
I went to yahoo SBC to see if it was available for me and my folks. It was, but they said that there was something wrong with my phone service and needed to contact them. Called, said that we had a hold on the account, went to ask mom if we had any balances. She said we had none, but had to pay 100 dollars down payment to get long distnace and maybe we had to do that to get dsl since it’s an extra feature. Told her I would pay the 100, just want DSL NOW!
Step 2: Get another phone carrier>
Not a step to take, but apparantly we did. MCI called us and gave some offer with long distance and all this crap for a low rate, my parents took it. It’s nice and all, but without SBC as my carrier, I can’t get DSL. I checked with MCI, and even Earthlink; no dice. They don’t carry it for me. BTW, anyone have any other recomendations? I wouldn’t mind using another carrier, jsut SBC is currently 26.95 a month. Good stuff. Oh and I’m in an apartment and don’t know much about DSL, is that able to be put in in an apartment? My friend got earthlink DSL in this area before, but earthlink says they dont have service for my phone. SBC says they do. Is it the apartment? Does SBC REALLY?
Step 3: Switch Back>
So my rents get a letter today. Turns out my mom lied, we owe like 90 dollars to SBC before we can get long distance and other features (which explains the no dsl problem from step one). They are maybe going to swith back, I advised them to do it, we really need DSL. I can’t take this getting dropped every five mintues and thigns taking forever to load and never getting calls… GAH!
