Why is it when I try to import images into my flash movie that they look pixelated or blurry? When I look at other sites, their images seem to stay intact. Please help!

and remember that its best to import a image without compression, such as png (lossless format) . then allow flash to compress the image to a jpeg through its properties (right click on the image in the library) , this way the image will not compress twice which would result in pixelated and unjust results.
edit:: Oh yeah WELCOME TO THE FORUMS !!! haha , a bit slow 2nite, sorry.
Hi hothawaii,
I used to face the same problem but what i do now is ceate / edit images in fireworks and save as a png , then export it from fireworks to a gif format.
Then in your flash page , import the gif file into the relevant layer. When they are imported as GIF any effects youve used on the image (e.g. Alien Skin plugin for Fireworks) will still be there in your image, if u import as PNG iv found u tend to lose the effects.
Hope this helps u

woot!!!:beam:
you shouldnt lose the plugin if you save as a png?? the effect is flattened, well using photoshop anyway. if you save as a gif you will have lose of quality like i said before, when you compress it in flash. As you are compressing the image twice.
Photo-editing program ::
export Lossless format. (PNG)
In flash ::
Import PNG and then right click on the properties of the image in the library and use the jpeg compression, and manually edit the compression percentage, then you can press test to see how much compression of the original image will occur with those settings.
edit:: i just tried to export a png in fireworks with a alien skin plugin applied and it stayed when i imported it in flash.
I tried what the tutorial had said, but I still can’t get the clean results I want… basically it’s a image that needs to be sharp to the last pixel… what can I do? I see sites that execute this well… plz help.
my method is to use photoshop/psd files, and then just drag the image from photoshop into flash–also, make sure that your original images are sized 100% of what you want them to be in flash…
