In-line images in html-textField or textArea comp

Hey,
I have a problem inserting images in a textArea component or a textfield rendered as HTML, when any image is inserted it goes to the next line where the text is. I need this for a chat component, inserting smileys on conversations.
Im including the <img> tag with all parameters but it is not working.

Hey I was wondering the best way to get this done. Whats the easier way to do this in flex? I have been contemplating which format to use to get this done. I get the post above on how to use the replace method but the calculation throws me off. Any suggestions would be really helpfull.
