Inline AS Tags

Would it be possible to make tags that put AS code inline with your paragraph text? So instead of:

Try using ActionScript Code:

flash.utils.getTimer();

it would be something like:

Try using flash.[COLOR=#000080]utils[/COLOR].[COLOR=#0000ff]getTimer[/COLOR]COLOR=#000000[/COLOR];

And if we were really good, we could even make tags which link to the AS3 livedocs. So typing [asdic]flash.utils.getTimer()[/asdic] (or whatever tage name) would link to http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/utils/package.html#getTimer()

Just some ideas I thought were pretty schmancy.

I still think this is a good idea.

I’d just like to be able to edit my posts if I suck enough to not spot a type-o before I submit :angry:

Use the plain text editor.

I agree - this is a great idea. The problem with this is implementation and maintainance, but I will give this a shot once some of the other forum-related work has wrapped up :slight_smile:

I still want my [font=monospace][noparse][font=monospace][/noparse][/font]code[font=monospace][noparse][/font][/noparse][/font] tags! I type this out all the time, and it could easily be simplified to [font=monospace][ic][/font] or something for incline code.

That should be easy! I will add that tomorrow :wink:

Yay! Thanks you (and the Canadian for bringing this up again). :slight_smile:

foo

[font=“Arial”]foo[/font]

Done :slight_smile: the tag is [IC]

Kirupa is zie bomb

Incline?

Oh ic what the problem is…

I actually did a search for incline tag just to make sure it was a typo and not some newfangled phrase cool people use these days…to describe inline code :stuck_out_tongue:

Time to start!

Thanks for the incline code option Kirupa!
