Is anyone really good with OSX?

I ask because i have this UNBELIEVABLY ANNOYING problem with my fonts. I installed a few the other day, and the next time i booted it up and opened photoshop, flash, and word and they all told me that certain fonts couldnt be found. So i opened up the Font Book - all of my fonts were missing, except the defaults that come with OS X. They are still in ~/library/fonts and i even deleted the recently added fonts from that folder… still no results. I’m assuming nobody knows why this would be happening, but i figured it was worth a shot. Thanks to anyone who can help!!!
