Twice in the past two weeks I have recieved angry emails claiming websites I have worked on contain spyware. One of these messages specifically uses the expression “Macromedia spyware” twice - presumably refering to the Flash playes.
Both emails came from aol email addresses. Aol has been advertising their auto-updating spyware blocker utility (I forget its exact name) pretty heavily recently. Is that thing branding the Macromedia Flash Player as spyware? Is there some other source that’s putting this idea in people’s heads? Or is this just a coincidence (a couple of paranoid people who just happen to have aol addresses)?
