**Before you start reading this I warn you that this is not for everyone. **
This is the most amazing and creepy thing I think I’ll see this year. I saw a program about the Capuchin Monks of Palermo and about their burial catacombs where they display dead bodies hanging from the wall as opposed to bury them. The bodies were (they stopped doing this in 1920) enbalmed and then dressed and hung from the walls in the catacombs, about 8000 people are entombed there and it is now a major tourist attraction in Palermo.
I just think it’s a fascinating way to look at death and a different take on the traditional idea of burial. An interesting look as well at the Cappucin Monks themselves and not just of a practice that has disappeared but of a time I guess. Anyway this whole thing blew my mind and I just wanted to share it.
The links below are kinda graphic so if anything above upsets you, then DO NOT click the links below
Ok this first link is just a link to Wikipedia (no images) explaining a bit more about the whole thing
I decided to do a Google Images search as well so here is some of the pics of the Catacombs
And kinda related I found this. It’s pictures of some altars buily by some Capuccin Monks beneath Rome…this is really creepy (scroll down the page to see images once the page loads).

Like I’ve warned several times in this link, the images contain pics of real dead bodies (mostly skeletons) and, of course, skulls. If you think thats the kinda things that will upset you, then** DO NOT** open them.
By the way if you open the links and find the content does upset you, then tough…I think I’ve given plenty warning above.
Anyway let me know what you think…
