Every year, an even called “The duckrace” takes place around the US. You “adopt” a real genuine yellow rubber ducky, which is placed in a stream. At the given start date, all these duckies (up to 35.000 in some events) are set free and race towards the finish! The owner of the duck that wins is rewarded with cool stuff.
The revenue of this project goes to charity (Children’s Memorial Hospital).
I’ve just completed a site which is designed to increase awareness of this event. It’s called rubberduckyderby.org and you can go there to create awesome crazy avatar ducks
it seems like a pretty cool idea. site is nice too
one thing that popped to mind - what happens to all the ducks afterwards? can u ensure they get collected up - or do they end up floating away into oblivion?

You mean in the actual “real” event? yeah you get to keep your duck if you want to. After it crosses the goal line they are picked up and they are all “marked” with your name. : )
Hey Sekasi, I’m really digging this. You’ve got a solid site with a clear concept. This is rare these days and I’m really satisfied with the experience you’ve created on the site. Definitely portfolio material. The only crit I would offer, if you ever consider taking it up a level, would be to integrate the navigation design further into the concept. Maybe an outstretched *****willow(the things popping out of the water) with the navigation links below it. That might add a nice touch to the site. Anyhow, nice one!
oh man, looks like the kirupa system bleeped out my wording for your water plants. I didn’t write any dirty words there if anyone is curious, I only look like a foul mouthed truck driver, I don’t talk like one.
Excellent job sekasi! :thumb: I might Adopt a ducky just because you did such a good job on this site. Definitely portfolio material like doctor_funk said.
Sounds cool, but without Flash I get a completely blank page on the non-index pages. It might be good to give some type of warning regarding needing Flash.
