(Java) Paperboy RSS Reader

Hey everyone,
Not sure if anybody remembers me, but I used to post on these forums :stuck_out_tongue: For the past few months, I’ve been pretty busy drinking/coding in Java for a software engineering class. For the final group project, I and three friends choose to create a RSS Reader. With their permission, here is some information and source code for our program:

The following are a few screenshots of the program:

You all can install the program and run it on your computer by using the following link: http://stuff.mit.edu/~johnroge/rss_base/rss.jnlp

You will need the latest Sun Java JRE to get the above Java Web Start installer to work. We know it works well on Windows, the status bar is missing on Linux, and we didn’t test on OS X.

The source files (sans jar and eclipse files) can be found here: http://web.mit.edu/kirupa/Public/team10-final-src.zip (990k)

The eclipse workspace can be found here:

Design document:

**Due to incompatibilities between the installer and Eclipse, Export to WAV does not work in the Web start version. You can get it to work by running the program from Eclipse. We didn’t quite get enough time to fix some performance issues, but you’ll most notice them when adding feeds with many articles or sorting with many rows of data.

On another note, of the RSS projects students created, our project won **Best Usability C:-) **

So, the above is 2.5 weeks worth of coding and sleep depravation. Now to read some tutorials and re-learn how to use Flash!

Cheers!
Kirupa
