You’ll need their permission first before using their icons though
Here’s one you don’t have to pay for, http://www.iconfactory.com/, I believe.
thanks! but the site has no icons at all that are free, atleast i was not able to find them, also, this is for Kirupa mostly, how would i take a .ico file and convert it into a gif or jpg so i can use it on my site ???
I have no idea
I just go to My Documents, navigate to the folder containing all the icons, and go to View | Icons in the toolbar to display all the icons. I then press Print Screen and copy and paste the SS of the icons and cut/paste accordingly. You can also Print Screen a Change Icon window if your icons are stashed in a DLL file somewhere.
With that said, I haven’t used any of Windows’ icons in a while because I think it may be a copyright violation. I really should remove those icons from the image list hehe
what about the icons you have next the new tutorials on the main page. PrintScreen them aswell and than added them to photoshop and saved them as jpeg’s ?
i just rename em open em up in paint and copy the picture

speaking of these::
hey K-man? I spotted a tiny error… One of the icons is not displaying properly, because of an extra space at the end of the link: http://www.kirupa.com/large_icons/three.jpg%20
Its on the first row, of the last table, all the way to the right (little red X). Just thought i’d give you the heads up…
drop the ‘%20’ and it should be fine…
Thanks maj Fixed it!
red - yeah. I print screen/paste in Fireworks/crop. For me that was simpler than using a 3rd party program.
