Kirupa's Snowfall Tutorial - Help Needed

Hello,

With regard to Kirupa’s snow falling tutorial:

http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/snow.htm

This Flash snow fall is the best I’ve seen and I would like to be able to achieve this effect. I am totally new to Flash creation and have tried with this but I’m obviously not understanding or missing something. Could someone help me out; this is what I have tried following Kirupa’s tutorial with SWF Quicker:

(1) I went to ‘File/New/New Movie’.
(2) Right clicked in the white rectangle and in ‘Properties’ at the bottom of the screen I set a dark background colour, Frame Rate 25 and kept the default ‘Width 400’ and ‘Height 300’.
(3) Next I went to the ‘Oval’ tool, selected a white fill and added a small white circle to the dark background.
(4) I clicked on the white circle, pressed F8 and selected ‘Convert to Movie Clip’ and changed the name to ‘Snowfall’.

I wasn’t 100% sure of the next part. In Kirupa’s tutorial, it says, ‘Right click on the movie clip and select Actions.’ I took this to mean to click on the white spot and carried on as follows:

(5) I selected the white spot (with ‘Movie Clip’ label), went to the ‘Action’ tab at the bottom of the screen then copied and pasted the code shown in Kirupa’s tutorial.
(6) Next, I clicked on the first frame in the ‘Timeline’ then copied and pasted the last code in Kirupa’s tutorial into the ‘Action’ tab at the bottom of the screen.

I thought I had done everything correctly and pressed ‘Preview’. There is just one white spot moving vertically downwards so there is obviously something else I need to do. When I have this playing I will then try to add my own picture background.

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me what needs to be done to now play the full effect.

Many thanks.
