Laptop Advice

Im planning to take new laptop i already have Hp but it’s old now… i have to 3 choices now which brand is better Toshiba, Hp or Acer…?

Sorry if i spelled Advi©(S)e wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess in the end it comes down to personal preference, what you need it for, specification and budget.

I own a Toshiba laptop, only because it was affordable and does what I want it too. I have never had any faults with it and can highly recomend them. I have also owned a Acer laptop in the past with the same recommendations.

forget about specification… Im just asking about the Brand name…

Yeah, I own an acer, and I am completely pleased with the build quality. The price is about the lowest I could find for comparable specs. I used to have a Dell Inspiron, and it had a problem with overheating due to a design flaw with the ventilation, and I owned an HP that started to crack at the hinge after about 4 or 5 months.

wow lolz… My old HP cracked from hinge too like after few months of use…

i recommend toshiba as well. I have an old-ish toshiba (satellite m30x) and appart from a foreseeable HD failure (it had reached it’s age limit) it’s been great.

I have no experience with acer.

Very bad experience with HP (and Compaq back then).

I’ll actually deny all of these… The only decent company from those three IMO is HP. They used to suck, but now they’re consumer laptops are much improved. Acer has a reputation with horrible quality, and Toshiba laptops IMO just look ugly in general, and have crappier parts for the same price.

I’d try Dell if your looking for a consumer laptop as well. They’re really good overall compared to these three.

I’m actually going to have to disagree with you about Toshiba. In my opinion, Toshiba makes some very nice laptops. I have a 2-year-old $1,000 Toshiba laptop that has run perfectly. It’s solid as a rock and has had zero problems. Probably the most reliable laptop I have ever used.

Yeah, if price is no object, go for Dell. If you want the most features for the price, go acer.

Heh, there’s a reason why I said IMO. Typically everyone has their own opinions about these companies.

I would agree that HP consumer laptops have come a long way, I think they are not a bad choice if you can find a good price and don’t mind fingerprints (their glossy cases show fingerprints like mad). Everyone I know who has purchased Toshiba laptops have been pretty happy with them, although I personally don’t care for them (too much keyboard flex).

You might want to have a look at Lenovo. Right now Thinkpads are dirt cheap (rumors of new versions coming out soon) and they are built like rocks. I just picked up a T-61 and I am in love!

I have a Toshiba Satellite X-200 - its been good in every way - except for the fact it comes with Vista pre-installed, and Vista is a heap of steaming turd IMHO.

Seriously, for high quality audio streams, it sucks - i tested my firewire soundcard on a 4 year old Toshiba with XP and it ran so much more stable than on my speccy brand new Toshiba with Vista…

thanks for suggestions… I had HP and it was good however it was P4 but served me well suddenly hardware issue hinge cracked… now my First choice is Toshiba I liked it, Second choice acer I never used it but i heard it works very nice even Celeron system… and last choice Dell… i hate dell laptops their designs looks like they are old laptops bad designs…

You hate the new Inspiron line (1425/1525) and the XPS laptop line? What planet do you come from? You like the Toshiba design better, wow. That’s all I need to say :stuck_out_tongue:

Everyone has its own choice no need to laugh on others… If you can’t suggest then don’t bother post…

What’s the purpose of this laptop? Because that CPU is really underpowered for anything more than the casual use of photoshop. Also, that GPU is probably integrated. What’s your price range?

755.062 USD approx. well I have my desktop computer for using programs like Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Front Page, Illustrator…

The specs. I told aren’t powerful?

The RAM and HD aren’t too bad for a lower priced lappy but if that is a Core Duo you are looking at, that is a last generation chip and will certainly be slower then the current Core 2 Duos. The GPU being integrated is fine if you don’t intend to play games on the system or use any 3D applications. What is the screen size in that Toshiba?

it might be 17 or 16 inches…

are you using acer…?
