I’m trying to figure out how to crop images smoothly, I know I can use the lasso tool but I don’t know how to smooth out the edges, can somebody tell me how?
break apart the image (ctrl+b) then draw with the line, circle, box or pen tool whatever the shape you want to crop your image to over your image. Then (since the image is broken apart) select the image inside your cropped shape and move it out to get the ‘crop’ you wanted.
First of all those eyes look awsome, I would love to make myself look creepy like that! I will try that out, and I appriciate you helping me.
You really need to get a copy of Photoshop my friend. Image editing in flash is very poor. It never really looks right. You mentioned before that the copy on your PC was too old. What version is it?
I’m sorry I thought I had photo shop but I don’t even have it, all I have is paint :sigh: that came with the windows 98 program. Do you know of where I can get the photo shop?
It is an expensive program to buy like $600-700 for the latest version. I would go to e-bay and see what you can find. You can also buy a older version for less then buy and upgrade that will save you some money. If you are a student you can get a student deal on a new copy as well. If you really want to design you will need a leagl copy of Photoshop though so one of these will have to be done.
paintshop pro is a cheap alternative
… and if you can figure things out pretty well on your own you can try the windows ported gimp (free)
www.gimp.org/win32/
though on an older computer it will be a little slow.
paintshop pro is a cheap alternative
Yes this is true but I would rather have Photoshop 3 then paintshop pro. It just doesn’t do the job. If you are only doing one thing and aren’t really serious about design then ya paintshop pro will work but if you are serious get Photoshop.
I hated paint shop pro. I downloaded the free trial before, and everytime I saved, even at the highest quality, the colors would bleed!!!
I hated that… I don’t want my colors running into eachother when I save… that looks… tacky, ugly, nasty, horrible, etc.
the one thing I like about paintshop pro when I had it (which photoshop didnt have at the time) was a free-form selection crop. I mean come on adobe, took you long enough to get that in. Im still waiting for a save selection as (the imagery within, not the selection shape).
Ive never had any color problems with psp though. :\ might have been a result of the trial.
senocular, I appriciate your help more than you know, but I think I finally got it, if I have any more questions, I only hope that you help me like you’ve been doing if you can, thanks again, c-ya!
Photopaint from Corel is an excellent alternative to Photoshop - just as good and cheaper. As well, CorelDraw is superior to Illustrator. You can get both bundled for less than the price of Photoshop alone. If you can find earlier versions of CorelDraw (with Photopaint bundled), they are all worthwhile starting at version 7.
