I have a few burning questions I need to ask about integrating Flash MX (6) content within a Learning Management System (LMS) - along the lines of “Is it possible to…?” Your combined wisdom would be most appreciated…
Q#1 Can I create flash learning content which monitors all the key variables internally within the .swf then report to the LMS once the module is complete? For example, a quiz with 10 questions would have variables “answer chosen”, “time to completion”, “correct” or “false”, etc. recorded on the fly, then passed all at once to the LMS upon completion or does it have to be passed to the LMS in sequence as the interaction progresses?
Q#2 I have some complex learning interactions that branch dynamically, lead to full simulations and feature a lot of other features not typical in canned courseware that most LMSs are accustomed to. Can I have the user go through these complex scenarios, all within the movie file, then simply pass back the basics at the end, such as “passed” or “failed” for record keeping within the LMS? A shame to dispose of all the valuable metrics, but easier to manage at the same time…
I guess both questions are along the same lines of “Does the LMS need to know what is happening within the application, or can it just be fed the variables it knows what to do with and left alone otherwise?”
I have come up with some pretty cool learning content but find myself needing to dumb it down so that it can be integrated within this kind of enterprise-level LMS - just trying to feel out the boundaries…
Thanks a lot for your (anticipated) help
