Logotypes?

A friend of mine recently gave me a copy of the design book Dos Logos as a birthday present. As I browsed through it I was very impressed by the logotypes in the book. Designers such as Rinzen, Bleed and Buro Destruct inspired me to create some of my own logotypes. This is a subject that has interested me for some time but I’ve never really attempted it before, with the exception of my own logo.

The following images contain no fonts except for the copyright warning and were made using strict grids in Illustrator 10.

The first is simply the name of my girlfriend in logotype form.

The second is a possible name and logotype for a small design “studio” that a few friends and I intend to set up when we are in university. The name “Proof” comes from the mock-up or proof that is produced first when doing print work to ensure there will be no problems with the finished article in the final print run. Our team will make sure there are no problems with your brand/company. It’s a little cheesy I know but hey.

The third is a logotype for a small clothes line that a few of my school friends and I may be starting in our last year of school. It’s called “North” because we live in “The North” of Ireland.

I heartily encourage everyone to have a go at making a logotype. It could be for anything, use your name if you can think of nothing else. It’s great fun and very rewarding when you get it right.

Post anything you come up with in this thread.

Cheers!
