Mac IE only problem? (text next to swf)

Hello all,

Long time listener, first time caller. I’m having what appears to be a common problem: swf files that act weird in Mac IE 5.

The test page I put together on the issue is here: http://www.kissickco.com/pps/ppPicViewer.html
The test page has extensive notes about the problem if you scroll down.

Please recommend a solution or workaround if you know of any. Anybody know what percentage is using Mac IE 5 these days?

Background: I’m using Flash and Dreamweaver MX on Mac OS 9.1. The swf loads a text data file into two arrays, the red circle buttons load new pictures and captions. Yes, my registration point is in the right spot. Yes, I have the latest flash player plugin for IE.

THANKS!

I downloaded the html source – why not put it all in a table? That’ll force it to stay put.
(I didn’t catch the resize thing before)

Yes, that works for the most part. The only drawback being that the text can’t really flow around the swf in the same way it would around an image. Making the first block of text align bottom and the next align top would at least keep all the text together. This might have to be as good as it gets.

Thanks very much.

I notice you’re in Cambridge. I’m in Kansas City but I do a lot of print and web work for Cell Press in Cambridge and ScienceJobs.com in Newton.

I moved here from Chicago. All these little towns with unlabeld roads that go nowhere! But I guess Kirupa goes to school down the road at MIT…
