Hi… my first post on the Kirupa forums. =)
I’m working on a new showcase site for my own images. In that matter I’m creating a gallery with a magnifying glass. I have tried many tutorials on the subject. And mostly they works fine if I follow the steps carefully, but however, they lack some of the functionality that I strive to acheve. Btw, I use Flash 8.
My problem is however, that my showcase site is a fullscreen Flash website, where everything has to be loaded in with the help of levels or by loading in movieclips. With movieclips it seems like most of the functionality of the magnifyer is lost when I import it into mye main movie (the good thing here is that I can place the movieclip wherever I want to in the main movie), and therefore the whole point with the gallery is lost. If I try to load the magnifyer in via its own swf file, using the loadMovie or loadMovieNum methods It works okey but the magnifyer is placed up in the left corner of the main movie and thats not where I want it. I know that it is possible to move the levels, but I dont know how to do it, and actually I dont want to use that method becase I may have use for the place on the left for bigger pictures in the gallery.
Therefore, I thought about making the magnifyer.swf to a full screen swf and place the whole magnifying glass and picture in the middle of this fullscreen. But if I move these objects that makes up the magnifyer then the functionality disappears. When I place my magnifying glass over the image then the image that is masked (the magnification) is shown on the wrong postition, not over the original small image.
So if anyone knows a good solution to this problem, or has anything to say that might be of importance, then be free to do so.
Questions that needs answering is especially: Should I keep to levels? Is it possible to keep the functionality with impoting the magnifyer as a movieclip? Is there an easy method in finding the measurements for placement of the big images so that it will show the magnification in the right position?
If you have any ideas or thoughts on the subject I would be glad to hear them.
Hope my english wasn’t to bad.
