Im not even sure what this is called! but ive visited sites where the text seems to be actually written on the screen in front of me (ya know going from left to right like you would on paper) If anybody can help plz do so. thanks in advance guys …and girls
You mean some kind of typewriter effect?
Hi,
I’ve made an example so you can have a look.

I think he meant handwriting… like the SJ letters in here: www.seanjohn.com
If that’s the case, it’s made whith plenty of patience and a animated mask
Yes, it’s pretty much revealing a clip little by little with a mask. Can be tricky if the shape is complicated, but nothing really difficult
Hi, I’m sorry for going off topic but I’ve got say I always wonder how some people had such high number of posts.
I know now.
Thanks

Having a bad day, Eki?
post++
Yeah,
i’m on my own in the office while everybody is out!! ;¬)
Thanks Pom for cheering me up!!!
I know that feeling… Well, on second thought, I don’t, I’m a real-life LIFO (geek joke, I’m sorry )
I did the handwriting thing for something. It came out really nice for the project I was working on, but it took a couple of hours though. I can’t remember exactly how I did it, but I know I made over 100 seperate frames and I used the guides function to help me. Basically was erasing little bits of the words on each frame until it was all written out. It takes a while, but it’s the most painstaking way to make it look like authentic handwriting. I know it sounds hum drum, but I got a xmas bonus for making my project really nice by going that extra mile! Have fun!
yeah i also wondered how this effect was done…and im talking about cursive handwriting…not the typeing effect…i always figured it was mask…but some just look way to good to actually seem like its a mask…some you can tell because the letter shows itself early sometimes…others you cant…
In cursive some letters overlap…like a X…so how can it be masked if while doing a X you would see this / during the masking animation…so its like you unmasked this first \ and then / in the letter X in cursive…yet you dont see / untill the end of the masking…its wierd to explain…one site said it can be done with action scripts…the draw method with cordinates of the letter…i think i spelled cordinates wrong…blah
Thanks gusy I figured it was a mask but had some hope a program could help me. Thanks anyways and im gonna try your suggestions
