Manchester Riot

Between 100,000 and 200,000 Rangers fans took over Manchester yesterday for the UEFA cup final.

The council put some big screens up around the center of Manchester for the fans to watch the match on. One of the biggest in Picadilly Gardens broke down before the match.

So you can imagine, tens of thousands of angry, drunk Scottish football fans is not the ideal situation. Started a riot and basically trashed the center of Manchester:

The worst thing i’v seen so far is CCTV footage of a lone policeman being attacked by a group of about 20 people, it’s horrific:

I got some photos of the fans during the day, but left Picadilly Gardens before the riot started (which actually i’m kinda gutted about, I wish I was there taking photos).

It’s an absolute discrace. Rangers fans should be ashamed of themsevs :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You guys and your football fun.

Oh wow. That looks terrible. When they set on that lone copper i’m amazed he got out of there in one piece.

:smh: They put cameras everywhere, tax people to death, tap phone lines and arrest people without formal charges, and people riot over ****ing soccer games. If you’re going to riot, do it for the right reasons, please.

Iamthejuggler - Yeah me too, what a hero for getting out of that one alive!

Yeah and a big slap in the face to his colleagues who legged it leaving him there …

I was thinking something along these lines too.

He looked like a fattie, he just wasn’t that fast. :run::expressionless:

Since when did being too chubby to flee an oncoming angry mob but being allowed to leave after a bit of a beating make you into a hero?

(I mean clearly I feel for the guy, and it’s a ridiculous thing to riot over, but hero? lolwut?)

^lol… I like how his buddies run away and “chubby” didn’t follow them.

stupid europeans and their football lol… How can you enjoy the game anyway when your totally wasted? It’s not like you can understand what the hells going on then anyway.

Europeans and their football? Man, these riots seem to happen every so often everywhere in the world. The only constant factor out of all of them is that its always testosterone-packed drunk sports fans. What a stupid culture.

Well, true. But Europeans do love their football more than most people…

At least, we computer people don’t have giant massive riots…oh wait.

I think it’s more the fact that people actually go out looking for a fight. Alot of the time those who riot and attack police arn’t even fans of the football, they just go to events with large amounts of alcohol-infused people to cause trouble.

Unfortunately football matches happen to be the best place to cause trouble as there’s alot of alcohol, and emotions always run high.

Yup. Oh darn, I’m going to USC this fall. =\

Oh well, mabye I’ll at least get laid in the drunkenness.

I can’t stand football personally. But as for the drunkenness? I love cricket, and one of the best days out you can have, in my opinion, is to go to an international test match. You sit there in the sun, watching the best sport in the world, and the whole crowd gets happily drunk all day long. It’s one of the most warm, friendly and celebratory experiences i’ve ever had as a sports spectator. Also because it’s a “gentleman’s sport” there is no violence, so old and young alike can revel in the sport through the hazy goggles of beer and spirits.

Not anymore lol… In India they’re dressing it up like American Football…Sad.
