I tried to draw level 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. for the NES (in an incredibly boring marketing class). So here it is:

[SIZE=1]
[/SIZE]
Am I close? I guess I’ll check it out. It seems right to me. Give it a shot (with another game, or whatever)!
