so these are the steps i need to take
*create box [layer1]
*create new layer [text]
*insert text in the box
*convert text to symbol [movie clip] [dynamic text that is]
*insert the action [text] layer
correct?

no… you don’t need to convert the TextField to symbol. if you see the example again, there are no symbols, just the TextField.
set the TextField to dynamic text in the properties panel and don’t forget the instance name of the TextField, also in the properties panel.

instance name “myTextField”. of course, you can change it to anything you want, just remeber to change the script as well.

so if the instance name is “newsField”, the script should be:

newsField.autoScroll(1000);

got it? =)

kax, im following those steps but no luk the text is outside the box and no action is being done… !! your top layer is your box right? or text? and the action is being inserted to text right? i swear i know i can do this im just missing a step or something and yes ive got correct “instance” name but no luk when i try to view it… !!

hmmm… why don’t you attach your fla? it would be easier for me. :-\

otherwise, you could copy and paste the script and the TextField in your fla and change the text/font/size/etc. of the TextField. =)

and what’s the problem? it’s working fine. :-
i just changed the color of the font to see it (having the same color in the box and the font is not a great idea). :stuck_out_tongue:

well when i go to publish preview “HTML” what I see is the box, I changed the font to green, and the font outside the box…I see no movment…this is weird…

see the fla. just changed the font color, resized the TextField a bit to match the box and added a few lines to the TextField. :-\
