Layer 2: with a square, covering a part of the circle on it
and I make Layer 2 a mask of Layer 1, I’ll see the part of the circle covered by the square, right?
Kay, so far so good, however, when I have:
Layer 1: with a graphic symbol which is made out of a dynamic textbox (so I made a dynamic textbox with some text in it, and converted that to a graphic)
Layer 2: with a square, covering a part of the graphic (the dynamic textbox)
and I view it, I don’t see anything! Grargh! It’s like the … it just doesn’t work! Why? GOD O GOD WHY? This is driving me nuts!

**For some reason, I’m unable to put a mask over dynamic text. Even if I convert the dynamic text to a graphic, a movie clip, or even a graphic inside a movie clip, I’m unable to put a mask over the dynamic text! WHY IS THIS?
I don’t think you can directly mask dynamic text, which is why you’ve tried to fool flash by using movie clips and graphics etc. But I know people have done it! I think it was either kode or claudio that has helped others with this. I found this thread when I did a quick search but it was in mx2004 so I don’t know if it will help you. Might try it though. Check out the very last post in the thread by kode.
Like I said, I know I’ve read about people getting around it, just don’t remember where so keep searching!
Thanks for your help Lunatic, you’ve been really helpful :thumb: I found the post you were talking about, and I tried whatever kode said, but it still doesn’t work. That’s why I created yet another threadhere :beam:
