Mass watermarking in Photoshop

I am not sure if Kirupa even encompasses this type of quesiton on photoshop but this is the best place for it.

I want to watermark about 200 images. They are all 800x800 and I want to put 2 layers of text with blending options and opacity changes.

My current method is to record an action of me watermarking on image and then I Automate | Batch. However there are two problems with this.

  1. I have to be present and press “OK” for every image.
  2. Even though the images start at teh same size, my 50 point text comes out as a different size for various images. I dont’ know why.

Is there a practical resolve to my problem? Or is there a better way to do this?

Thanks

“OK” for what ? give the specific info about that dialog box…

I think in batch processing certain types of dialog boxes can be suppressed…

dont know about your font problem

PS: and yes there are some Kirupians who are master of PS  (not me though)

Here is the dialog box: Http://www.u2xs.com/temp/box.jpg

Good to know about the Kirupa/Photoshop relation, thanks

PS’ batch processing has its limitations. For overlaying text I use a program called compupic pro - it’s basically digital library app but has some good features like batch renaming, rezising and watermarking.

Link here

It’s also quite affordable

Hi Cello, thanks for the input. I too have a different program, (which I am not so happy with) but my intention is to learn Photoshop, not to steer away from it.

your getting that dialog box because your replacing your original files, if you make a dir and tell PS to save them to that dir it should give you no problems, in the batch option instead of save and close choose folder.

That should fix your problem.

Good luck :thumb:

Its so obvious! How did I miss it? Thanks! By the way, any thoughts on the difference in the appearance fo the watermark? They all start off at 800 x800 but some are smaller than others

www.google.com lol sorry i cant help

And about your font size issue, the pictures where the font turns out really small probably has a different resolution than those that display the font normally

you can add a select all and align step to your action. which will align your water mark to that area on every dimension.

:: Ive also recently looked into conditional actions with image ready, basically action with if and else statement capabilities.

::opps i mis-read that text issue you were having. Photoshop does have a watermark feature using bridge. try a google search on that.

Hey everyone, thank you for your participation and help. I will undoubtedly look into the links you gave me Soulty. Thanks to the thread I found a fix for both problems.

  1. As fasterthanlight™ suggested, the DPI is different on some of these so within the action, I just have it specify the DPI to 180. Thanks fasterthanlight™!
  2. I didn’t originally want to save in a new folder, but its the same thing. Thanks grimdeath for that idea.

I did over 200 images last night during dinner & I still have my eyesight!! Thanks guys for all of the help

thats what were here for :thumb:

 see I told ya there are a lot of good ppl here for PS. Good to know you are got what you wanted and also new knowledge added :thumb:
