question: how can i import a scene built in maya 4.0 into swift 3d 3.0 ?
isnt there a wat to export the maya file to a 3DS format ??
ywah i think that would be the only way…
Yeah… Just to add a little more to the topic. While Swift will import a 3DS from any program and support basic materials and model mesh, it retains the most information from 3DS files created with 3ds max. When using one of these files, not only will materials and model mesh be respected, but so to will animations, custom cameras and lights.
I think you need to buy the exporter to do ahmed is talking about is an add on and not included with swift v3.
thanks for the info.
i knew about importing 3dsmax-files
does anyone know the name of that exporter?
and what exactly does it?
nevermind… that’s not what youre looking for :-\
i’ll delete my post in a mintue
[edit]
i’ll just leave it up there
ive just seen it. how can i export from maya to 3dsmax-files?
file|export? lol i donno mata at all
erain is working on an exporter for maya…But getting files from maya to max I think is not possible. But if you can save as a .dxf then your in business to get it to swift.
Maya 5 is coming out with a vector renderer. It uses the same renderer as Swish3d (RAVIX3). For the plugin for maya 4, dont think they will bother, more reason to get the newer version of maya.
and pay 7000 dollars
if you are a Student or Faculty - check this out
http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/education/studentfaculty.shtml
go grab ayou a few units at a community college and buy the student version. Thats what everyone usually does. That gets it legally that is.
maya 5.0 is already out? and nobody told me?
wow it is…**** I just got 4.5 like 6 mos ago
i do not know if its out. i just think when you say that version 5 can render vector-graphics, and then tell me to buy it, its logical that version 5 is already on the market…
if so, i think ill buy it.
but there must be another way to get my maya-stuff into swift
specs were released.
