Maybe This Can't Be Done

I want to take a 10 minute DV AVI video, compress it, and make it into a Flash projector movie on CD. The source video is a 2.5 gig file that I have attempted to import with a range of compression settings. Either my system crashes, or it imports into the library, or scene stage, but can’t be dragged into symbol editor stage (“embedding OLE objects not supported”). The one time it all worked, when I compressed the heck out of it, the rendered Flash movie looked like 15th generation VHS, with out of sync audio. I have also experimented “pre-rendering” the source video with Premiere, After Effects and Windows Media Encoder-- rendering the source file to wmv, swf, avi and mov files— but it hasn’t helped.

I can make a fairly high quality authored DVD video on a CD from the same source, using Sonic’s MPEG2 encoder, so I am not ready to give up on Flash. What can be done?
