Millenium Falcon (3D) in progress

I started a new model messing around on the weekend. It’s only the basic shape so far which is going to look fairly ordinary, but hopefully when it’s finished it’ll look pretty cool. I got stuck into this because I had fairly boring weekend and ended up watching a few vids from my collection. Star wars is a bit of a fav and I really admire the amount of detail that went into creating those models!

(I’ve put my fiend on hold for now… it wasn’t going the way I hoped and I still have alot to learn when it comes to organic modelling!:-\ )

So here it is, lacking in detail and over the next couple of weeks I should be able to get it finished.

Oh yeah, and if anyone has some good reference pics for the millenium falcon please let me know. I don’t have any underside, front or rear shots to accurately model those parts.

just slap on some textures and voila

you can go to the book store and maybe even the library and pick up VERY detailed schematics of SW ships and buildings etc.

hey I saw a book like that this weekend…sen is right…very sweet…u must have tons of free time said in a envious voice

Yes i have seen these books before. THe one i saw was for episode one. IT even had a detaild schematic of the engines.

Nice start cna’t wait to see it when it is done.

Wow, you must have a lot of time on your hands to be making so much 3d works, nice work ironikart. Can’t wait to see this one when it’s finished.

wow once again very nice.

This might help.:smirk:

hehe good call Coolidge

Thanks, that was really helpful!:beam:

Making 3D is my spare time! :nerd: I don’t do much else besides spending time with my wife and watching TV. I’m hoping to eventually break into 3D/graphic design… but to get there (with or without a degree) requires alot of dedication. I wish I could say I was completely dedicated, but work takes a good chunk of my time and energy. (-:

curious you use polygon modelling for you models?? then mesh smooth and lofts…or do you start off with primitives?? or do you do spline modelling??

I’m pullin’ for you man. I know first hand how hard it is to get in.
Keep up the good work!:thumb:

if you were in the states I could get you a few contacts and man it is hard believe me.

I mix and match depending on what I need to model. Most poly modelling and modified primitives. I don’t do much spline modelling, I haven’t quite got the hang of it and haven’t found any really good tuts on how to do it well.

An update on my progress so far. I’ve spent considerable time making the texture on the top… and still more work to do on it, but the texture really brings it to life. I’m going to get into modelling the details. Man, I didn’t realise how complex it was until I started it. I hope it turns out!:-\

looking good man. it does look good with that texture:thumb:

1 more update with the textures. I’ve been working on it for most of the day, on and off and only managed to get the top texture mostly complete. :beam:

You are going to add the satalite dish right? I ahve to ask man what do you do? are u a student or what? Also waht sites did you do your tutorials from when u started modleing.

I ask because i’ve been trying to learn.

Heaps of tuts here:
