The Blackberry 8830 is simply a wonderful device to use.
This is the latest Blackberry released. The device always gets great signal strength. This is because the device has 2 antennas. One antenna operates on the CDMA band, (What most cellphones in the US use) and GSM band. (What Europe and parts of Asia use.) This phone allows you to use it on a GSM band abroad and a CDMA band in the USA. That is why its called the World Edition. My favorite use for the phone is tethering it. Tethering is where you connect the phone to a computer via USB cable and use the phones EVDO connection as your own. This is often what I do in the car, or when a WiFi hot spot isn’t available. The email experience is wonderful on the 8830. The 8830 quickly sends and receives e-mail, and the QWERTY keyboard is great for typing. The web browsing experience is okay with the Blackberry Browser, (its not the speed that bugs me its the browser itself) but I would recommend down loading Opera Mini. RIM has also added media functions to this Blackberry. The 8830 can easily handle videos, audio. and photos. (Although while connected to a bluetooth head set audio files take a while to load.) If you are a media junkie I would recommend expanding the 64mb of internal memory with a mini SD card that slides in right above the battery. Unlike older blackberry models the 8830 follows the Blackberry Peal as the 2nd Blackberry to have a trackball.
