haha one year ago when i first started work i had this problem with a flash menu i was making - i was pulling my hair out for ages and couldnt find an answer anywhere…
can you post at least a swf of your work - so i can see exactly what you want…or a fla would be even better.
k here is a very basic idea, but check out when you rollover portfolio and then rollout…driving me crazy

yea - i use an onEnterFrame in the mc that test for an overVar variable, and does the rollover/rollout according to wether its set to 1 or 0…
then i set the on(rollover) and on(rollOut) events to set the overVar variable to 1 and 0 respectively
if you post a fla of your button ill edit it to demonstrate.
