That’s what I’m doing but it keeps having a HARD EDGE, I’ve downloaded the tutorial and am looking at the circle and I just can’t think of what I’m doing different!
the tutorial shows how a text is used as a mask. the circle is not the mask, it is the object being masked. what u’r doin is dat the circle is ur mask and the pic is the one being masked, that’s why u get the hard edged circle as mask. if u use the picture as a mask, the shape of the mask is the shape of the whole picture, not the shape of what’s on the picture.
yeah i see what you mean i get the same result with a jpg i imported, what im thinking of doing is make 2 movie clips one with tha fade the other one with the circle and make the circle get the property of tha fade so its really draggin 2 movies instead of one im not sure if its possible im sure it can be done but im trying to figure out how since im no flash script guru maybe one of the other guys can help us out here, anyone??/
ok this is a very cheap way to achieve the effect you want so you can use this while i get home and check out my masters of flash book where one of the writers made this effect check oout the fla just add the png to a layer beneath the movie clip thats in the fla and resize the movie clip if necessary
okay this is what you wanted check it out http://www.expocaribbean.com/tut/flashlight_tut.html i had it right the second time but you just had to play with the alpha levels and make a real big square to create the masking effect, props go out to Ivo Van Grift teh creator of the tutorial and website check it out he has some cool tutorials http://www.grootlicht.com
P.S. Im only gonna leave the fla up for the weekend it will be offline by monday when i get time to make my own site ill upload some flas.
Hope you like it
