Music Software

I own a couple of guitars, a saxaphone and a snare and hi-hat, and I am thinking about start to record stuff on my pc, maybe to even play around with it, loops and what not.

So, what software is good for that? To create songs and whatnot? I got a crappy mic but hey, a start is a start.

There are inputs that you can buy for your guitar at least. They plug in to your computer directly (same way as an amp) instead of going through your microphone.

For software, I’m not sure what’s good for PC, but on Mac there is something called Garage Band, it’s cheap and I hear it’s very nice

I LOVE  Garage band, but I am on PC

Heh I was going to say Garage Band too…

I don’t know of anything good for PC…

M-Box by Digidesign. Comes with Pro Tools LE software. Its a nice little unit to get some very good recordings.Runs about $350-$400 USD. Well worth it though. If you cop a decent mic, you can make some very high quality recordings.
Not sure if you got a Sam Ash or Guitar Center in Hawaii, but check it out if you get a chance.

I use acid pro for my keyboard

Cool Edit Pro 2.0

im a fan of acid myself, i have a studio im my house, and its easy to import tracks from that to acid, i acan make some pretty cool stuff

You could try using soundforge. But that isnt the best for recording per-se.

[ot] Kay, love the avatar [/ot]

depends how far you want to go,

I use sound forge for samples etc, Reason 2.5 fot putting all the tracks together and loads of other various software for cleaning samples etc.

I input straight in to my sound card from a mixer?

Dont know if that will be any help for you but am sure one way you could do it is to take a line out from your mixing desk straight in to the pc? you could then tweak the sound on the mixer before it goes in to the pc.
